Completed in 1989, The Centennial Trail (CT) was developed to celebrate the centennial of South Dakota’s statehood. It traverses a geologic uplift out of the expansive western plains, which is the Black Hills. For the Native Americans in the region, the Black Hills have always been a sacred place. With abundant wildlife, rugged granite peaks, rolling hills, and limestone canyons you will surely understand why. This trip is intended for experienced riders with intermediate to advanced technical mountain bike handling skills, and strong physical fitness. Days are about 20 miles of challenging riding. The route ranges from hike-a-bike sections, established singletrack, two-track, gravel roads, and some paved roads.
