Day 1: Lake McDonald's Charm & Western Park Exploration

  • The tour begins in Whitefish, MT, with a shuttle to the park's western edge.
  • Enjoy a warm-up on Camas Creek Road before cruising along Lake McDonald, known for its unique red and green pebbles, to the historic Lake McDonald Lodge.
  • Total Mileage: 32 miles

Day 2: Going-to-the-Sun Road & Logan Pass Ascent

  • Today features the highlight: an early start for the challenging 3,000-foot ascent of the iconic Going-to-the-Sun Road.
  • We ride past the Weeping Wall to reach the Continental Divide at Logan Pass.
  • After the scenic descent, we shuttle to the majestic Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton, Canada (Passport Required).

Day 3: Chief Mountain & Many Glacier's Beauty

  • Pedal from Waterton Valley towards the Many Glacier area, riding in the shadow of the revered Chief Mountain.
  • Enjoy a rolling route into the picturesque Lake Sherburne Valley and our comfortable hotel on Swiftcurrent Lake, renowned for wildlife sightings.
  • Total Mileage: 52 miles

Day 4: Divide Mountain & East Glacier's Grand Lodge

  • Today is the longest day, cycling south along the eastern border and tracing the shores of Lower Saint Mary Lake.
  • The route takes us over Divide Mountain, rewarding us with spectacular panoramic views before a rolling descent into East Glacier.
  • We conclude the day at the historic Glacier Park Lodge, famous for its grand lobby and 40-foot Douglas fir pillars.
  • Total Mileage: 67 miles

Day 5: Two Medicine & Farewell to Glacier's Majesty 

  • Conclude the tour with a short backtrack to the Two Medicine turnoff, visiting the serene Two Medicine Lake.
  • Enjoy a quick hike to Running Eagle Falls before cruising back into East Glacier for a farewell picnic and the shuttle back to Whitefish.
  • Total Mileage: 26 miles

Be sure to bring everything on this list. We have carefully developed this list to insure your comfort on the tour regardless of the weather. If you are prepared for extreme weather, it is an adventure. If you are not prepared it can be a serious problem. We recommend the layering system, including a wicking or long underwear layer, an insulating layer and a weather barrier for wind and rain. This list reflects that philosophy. Weather in the mountains can be unpredictable so be sure to bring all the warm clothing and rain gear listed! You will need to bring your passport for this trip.

HOW TO PACK: The bulk of your gear and clothing will ride in the Western Spirit support vehicle (preferably in a large duffle bag) and will not be accessible during the day. While this trip is vehicle supported, there will be extended times when you are away from the vehicle. For this trip, you will need to be able to carry some extra clothing while riding. You can either bring a riding pack or carry these items in your jersey.

A small day bag is optional and may be used to store things you’d rather not ride with, but would like to have access to during the day. This daypack will remain with the support vehicle and will be available periodically throughout the day.
