Experience the ultimate Prescott singletrack mountain bike tour, where you’ll navigate the flowy, non-technical desert and forest trails home to the legendary Whiskey 50 Mountain Bike Race. This fully supported Arizona cycling adventure handles every detail from gourmet meals to gear logistics, allowing you to focus on the high-desert scenery and world-class trail systems of the Bradshaw Mountains.

We will be without vehicle support during some sections of the ride. Some cacti, sharp vegetation, and sharp rocks exist along trail.

Itineraries are subject to change due to weather, road conditions, rider safety and other factors which may affect the logistics of the adventure.

Road Surface: Mixed surfaces. Single track, double track, packed dirt road, rocky 4x4 road, loose rock, sand washes, and pavement.

Packing for your trip

Day 1: Lynx Lake & Acclimation Warm-Up

  • After meeting in the town of Prescott, we will shuttle to Lynx Lake to start our first ride.
  • The trails around Lynx Lake will be a perfect introduction to Arizona singletrack.
  • We’ll meander through a thick pine forest on flowy, smooth, and well-built trails, giving us a perfect chance to acclimate to Prescott’s 5,000-foot elevation.
  • After riding the Homestead trail, we will have the opportunity to add a bonus five miles on Salida Gulch before heading to camp at Lynx Lake.
  • Total Mileage: 10–18 miles

Day 2: Goldwater Lake & White Spar Descent

  • Today’s ride will take us directly from camp to the Ranch trail, part of the more extensive Prescott Loop trail.
  • Riders can expect big views while riding through a mix of ponderosa pine and oak.
  • Today’s ride will take us past Goldwater Lake and onto Trail #396.
  • Riders will be thrilled with the fun descent into White Spar campground where we will stay for the night.
  • Total Mileage: 16 miles, always options for bonus mileage

Day 3: Cold Springs Trail & San Francisco Peaks Vistas

  • Once again, we will hop right on our bikes and ride out of camp, working our way from east of Prescott to the southwest of town.
  • Today’s ride will include a fun descent down Cold Springs Trail, balanced by some rewarding climbing.
  • The effort is well worth it when we get views of Prescott, Feldspar Mountain, Granite Mountain, and the distant San Francisco Peaks beyond the Prescott National Forest.
  • After finishing our ride today, we will tuck ourselves away in another picturesque forested camp.
  • Total Mileage: 15–25 miles

Day 4: Granite Basin & Classic Flow

  • Locals have been enjoying Prescott’s trails for decades and today’s ride will take us down some of the classics as we work our way towards Granite Basin.
  • Today's ride delivers classic flow trail, carving through creek drainages and soaring over ridges.
  • We will spend our last night of the trip at Balancing Rock Camp next to Granite Mountain.
  • Total Mileage: 13–20 miles

Day 5: Thumb Butte Finale & Return to Town

  • After waking up next to the beauty of Granite Mountain, we will ride back towards Thumb Butte.
  • Today’s ride will also have numerous options available as we journey through Granite Basin over ridges, through drainages, and back into the pine forests.
  • We will finish our ride at the base of Thumb Butte where we will have lunch before heading back to town after an incredible week riding some of the best trails in Arizona!
  • Total Mileage: 10–15 miles

This Prescott Singletrack Tour is designed for Intermediate riders, featuring:

Be sure to bring everything on this list. We have carefully developed this list to ensure your comfort on the tour regardless of the weather. If you are prepared
for extreme weather, it is an adventure. If you are not prepared it can be a serious problem. We recommend the layering system, including a wicking or long underwear layer, an insulating layer and a weather barrier for wind and rain. This list reflects that philosophy. Weather in the mountains can be unpredictable so be sure to bring all the warm clothing and rain gear listed!

HOW TO PACK: The bulk of your gear and clothing will ride in the Western Spirit support vehicle (preferably in a large duffle bag) and will not be accessible during the day.

For this trip, you will need a riding pack and optional day bag:

  •  Your riding pack may be a hydration pack, but needs to carry 2-3 liters of water, rain gear, other warm clothing, and food for the day. You may be away from camp and the support vehicle all day and need to be self-sufficient.
  • A small day bag is optional and may be used to store things you’d rather not ride with, but would like to have access to during the day. This day-pack will remain with the support vehicle and may not be accessible, depending on the day.

o cash for tipping guides: your guides work as a team and share all of their gratuities. A tip of 10-20% of the price of your trip given to either one of your guides when you return to civilization is a great way to say thanks for a job well done.
